Nevada FAQ
Telehealth psychiatry in Nevada: your questions answered.
Do I need to be in Nevada during my appointment?
Yes. Licensing rules are based on where you are physically located at the time of the visit, so you need to be in Nevada for each video appointment. If you’ll be traveling, let us know ahead of time. Allan is also licensed in Arizona and Hawaii, so visits from there may be possible.
Are all appointments by video?
Yes. Every Nevada appointment happens by secure, HIPAA-compliant video, so you can be seen from home, work or anywhere private. The Nevada address on this page is for mail and administration only. If you’d rather be seen in person, Allan’s Arizona offices are in Peoria and Wickenburg.
How much does a visit cost? Do you take insurance?
Self-pay rates are $175 for the initial psychiatric evaluation and $125 for each follow-up. We accept HSA and FSA cards and provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We don’t bill Nevada insurance plans directly yet; ask us and we’ll help you check your out-of-network benefits.
Can my medications be prescribed through telehealth?
Yes, for many medications, including antidepressants, non-controlled anti-anxiety medications, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics and non-stimulant ADHD medications, plus controlled medications when appropriate (see below). Prescriptions are sent electronically to a pharmacy you choose anywhere in Nevada. Controlled medications, including stimulants for ADHD and buprenorphine (Suboxone) for opioid use disorder, can be prescribed for Nevada patients when they are clinically appropriate and safe, following federal (DEA) and Nevada prescribing rules, including a check of the state prescription monitoring program.
Who will I see?
You’ll see Darrell “Allan” Benham, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who holds Nevada Certified Nurse Practitioner license 893036. You’ll see the same clinician at every visit.
What do I need for a video visit?
A smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera, a stable internet connection and a private, quiet space. We send instructions for joining the secure video visit ahead of time.
What if I’m in crisis?
PsychiatryCore does not provide emergency care. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, call 911, call or text 988, or go to the nearest emergency room.
